Chennai Thrashed Mohali

With the all-round show by the team, Chennai Super Kings beat Kings XI Punjab by 33 runs in the hard fought match and proved they indeed were the super kings. After flourishing with bat, Chennai Super Kings bowlers made life difficult for Kings XI batsmen in their DLF Indian Premier League T20 encounter at Mohali.James Hopes (71) and Kumar Sangakkara (54) kept hopes alive for Kings XI but their efforts were just not enough. Captain Yuvraj Singh too failed to be his team's saviour and went back after scoring 23 runs.Opener James Hopes hammered Super Kings bowlers before falling prey to P Amarnath. He kept hopes alive for his side despite losing his opening partner Karan Goel (24) to Manpreet Gony in the sixth over. Earlier, riding on a ferocious knock of Mike Hussey, Chennai Super Kings put a target of 240/5 for Kings XI.Despite losing five wickets Chennai Super Kings scored at a brisk pace against Yuvraj Singh's Kings XI in Mohali, all credit to the Australian batsman and man of the match Mike Hussey.Mike Hussey, also known as Mr. Cricket, smashed 114 runs in 54 balls with nine sixes and eight fours.Suresh Raina (32), Matthew Hayden (26) and S Badrinath (31*) were other batsmen who contributed to the total of 240.Irfan Pathan was pick of the bowlers for Kings XI, who took wickets of Mattew Hayden and Jacob Oram, while Lee, Hopes and Mota picked one wicket each. Skipper MS Dhoni could not contribute much as James Hopes caught him plumb infront of the wicket but he had the result he wanted. But as they say, all's well that ends well!

My Failures Motivated me

Virender Sehwag admitted that being dropped from the Test side "motivated" him to concentrate better, enabling him to produce what he termed as his "best innings". Sehwag spent the whole of the last year out of the Test side but returned with two outstanding hundreds in consecutive Tests.
"When I was dropped from the Test squad I was hurt because I have a good record in Test cricket," he said after his 278-ball triple hundred on the third day of the first Test. "So I was looking to prove to myself that I am a good Test player and deserve a place in the team. But that feeling of hurt was also good for me because I was able to motivate myself and concentrate better."
Exactly four years earlier Sehwag started his other epic (309 against Pakistan in Multan) but rated this innings ahead of that one. "I will say this is my best Test innings because I made 300 and scored at more than run a ball," he said. "In Multan the wicket was better than this and the conditions were not hot and humid when we played there. I don't think I showed so much patience and concentration in Pakistan. I wanted to prove to myself that I belong here and there is no better way than playing a big knock and scoring a triple century."

New Champions in Old Champians yard

The Indian one-day team returned from the CB Series in Australia to a rousing reception at the Delhi airport, where they were greeted by hundreds of fans and received by officials of the Indian board and the Delhi and District Cricket Association. After a hard-fought series, where they won the finals 2-0, the team reached Mumbai in the morning and took a chartered flight to Delhi for a function at Feroz Shah Kotla. They were joined there by two members of the World Cup-winning under-19 side - Virat Kohli, the captain and Pradeep Sangwan - who play for Delhi and a pacer. Speaking at the function, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the team captain, praised his side, which became the first Indian team to win a series in Australia. The series was played out amid some controversy and Dhoni made special mention of the team's behaviour: "The conduct of my team on and off the field is responsible for our victory." Sachin Tendulkar, who played match-winning knocks in both the finals, told news channel CNN-IBN that the team hadn't been distracted by the controversies - which originated in the Sydney Test - during the tour. "Plenty of things happened on the field, but we were focussed on the cricket." Rohit Sharma, who made a vital 66 in the first final, echoed Tendulkar's sentiments. "We tried to enjoy our cricket as much as possible," he said. "All the controversies motivated us." The BCCI had initially planned an open-top bus parade from the airport, similar to the welcome the team had received after winning the World Twenty20, but decided against it later. "The players have been in Australia for more than two-and-a-half months and will also be tired after the two flights," BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla told PTI. "That's why we have not made any elaborate arrangements as the players will be eager to go home." A reward of Rs 10 crore (US$2.5 million) had already been announced for the team. Go india , Go...
